RallyCross ResultsTo practice for ProRallies, we run sports car rallies and rallycrosses. The most common type of sports car rally is the TSD, for time/speed/distance. Contestants follow a cross-country course and must drive at precise speeds to arrive at the checkpoints on time. We use TSD rallies to practice for ProRallies because they help keep us sharp on all the skills needed, except for driving fast, and are a great way to test out the car. Another type of rally that doesn't involve high speed is gimmick rallying. Gimmick rallies come in a large variety of styles. Here's the Tombstone Trail, a gimmick rally I have put on every Halloween since 1978. A rallycross is like a very short ProRally. The cars run on a short, closed course against the clock. They are great practice for your car handling skills and can be run in any car that's safe enough to pass tech inspection. Here's what we've done in organized competition in the Talon, other than ProRallies: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
